I went out to the san leandro creek right under the dam at lake chabot, I had heard that there were carp in there so my friend and I got there at about 10:30am. There were many shallow pools, after a while we saw a few carp, then I threw my float rod near some brush and moved over to the next pool and got two little bass and a nice bluegill, then I heard a splash and ran over to see my rod taking off, I picked it up and fought it out of the weeds to see a 5lb carp.

I heard about a freshwater lagoon in alameda, I had seen it before and thought it was saltwater and thought to myself, if that is freshwater I bet there would be carp there. Well, I had heard it had carp so I went to check it out, it is only about 10 minutes from my house. I got there at 3:00pm and fished next to a park, it is only 15 feet from the bay so i could fish rays and carp at the same time. I saw fish jump right away, I started getting hit right away, then I freelined next to a small bridge, then hooked up and lost it at then net. A few minutes later I landed a 5lber. After that I nailed them until I went home at 5:15pm. I ended up catching nine from 1lb-7lbs 3oz, most of them from 4-6lbs. I will probably go back tommorrow after school!

A few nice ones
Many 8-9lbers with the biggest at 9lbs 15oz, but they were surfacing and I saw a few monsters come up that must have been over 20lbs, I pulled my bait away from many 6-10lbers. I also got a 4lb 1oz mirror. Most of the carp were caught on the surface, but I got some smaller ones and the mirror float fishing. Here are some pics and a video of fish surfacing.
Between my dad and I we had 4 rods out from 10:00am-4:30pm and zero hits let alone any carp. By 7:30 I was sick agian and that is why I am not a school now, even though the spot sucked yesterday, it was a cool spot that we might try agian. We did get two bluegills.
I got up at 6:00am and grabbed my carp gear then picked up my friend at 6:45 to go out to Newark lake and meet up with Raymac who was helping out with a catfish clinic, but hadn't caught any carp out of there so it would be a discovery spot if I got a carp. We got there around 7:30am, My friend and I set up just past the netted area, after a couple hours of catching one little bass and people everywhere who kept crossing my line we moved over. to the point, I got a couple tiny bass, but still no carp. then at around 11:30 we moved across the lake to a spot by the bridge. I caught a few minnows that my friend and I used and caught a couple bass. Then at about 12:30 my carp rod got hit, I set the hook to find a turtle that was snagged in the foot. We then left to go to a nice quite shady part of the lake because I was feeling sick and wanted to rest. We found a nice little shady area where I could see carp bubbling.
I casted out two float rods with bread at got a few small hits, but was feeling to sick t get up and rebait r go help out at the catfish clinic. After a while I got up and rebaited, I got a couple little his, them had a nice hit, but missed it. Then about 15 minutes later I was laying on my mat when I had a run on my rod, I turned out to be a 2lb common, it was small but still a carp which means another successful discovery spot, I left shortly after at about 3:00 to find out I had a 102 degree fever.

This morning I got up at 8:30am planning to go to another discovery spot. This spot was oak hill park in Danville, a guy from fishsniffer said there were many big commons and koi in there. I got out there at 10:00am with bread, sweetcorn and float tackle, freeline tackle and my new 12' black phantoms, one of which I was using for a float rod.

I caught some little bass and a little bluegill. Then after 15 minutes I got hit on my float rod with bread, it turned out to be what the locals said was a blue catfish and I agree, the blue catfish weighted 3lbs.

Then I was talking to a bass guy who had been living around there for 20 years and fishing there for over 10years since he was a kid, and he told me that there were only 7 or 8 maybe 10 koi in that lake and no commons. He also said he had never seen one caught and they were impossible to get to bite. That discouraged me a little, but figured there were at least a few commons in there and I had a chance at getting a koi. Then when I walked across the lake to go to the bathroom I saw a pale orange koi with black and white spots that looked about 15lbs. Then at around 12:00 I moved over there. I talked to some other locals who also said there were not may koi in there, but there had been one recorded catch of a koi a few years back, it was white koi at 6lbs. I fished that spot for a couple hours and only caught a few small bass and another little bluegill on a spinner. I decided to move back to the other spot at about 3:15. I got back to that spot and saw no signs of fish. But then at about 4:50pm I was talking to another kid who was catch bluegills when I heard my rod getting hit, it was my 12' float rod with bread and 6lb fluorocarbon. I ran up and set the hook and when it took off I knew it was a koi or carp, then it jumped and I saw it, a large red/orange koi. As soon as I saw it I yelled YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Everyone turned and looked at me like I was nuts, after a few minutes I got it to the net. It weighed 12lbs 9oz. I left just after releasing the koi. That's one more successful entry.

We had a great weekend, we got out to whiskey slough at 9:00pm on friday. I chummed the area and started getting a couple hits at around midnight. I managed to hookup at around 1:00am. It was a 7lb catfish. I ended up getting two more cats from 6lbs to 8lbs, then went to sleep at about 4:00pm. I got up at about 6:00 and then at about 7:00 I got a 4lb cat. All te cats were on strawberry corn or bread boilies.
I got up at 7:30 this morning with intents of trying to hit atleast a couple spots. I grabbed my light freelining and float gaer and then we left at 9:00am. The first place was a 70 mile drive from home and was called Weber Point, it is in Stockon along the delta and I heard that it can be a good spot for carp on the fishsniffer. We arived in Stockton at about 10:30am, the first thing we did is looked for a market since we get bread or corn before we left. After a few minutes we found a small market where we grabbed some corn, but they did not have bread. We ended up finding some bread at a walgeens and arived at the spot at about 11:00. We fished for about an hour in a spot by where we parked with no hits. Then a local told us there were many carp down the way by some pipes. We walked down there at just past noon, we chumed some bread and corn and got a few runs in the first half hour. Then I got take on bread, it turned out to be a tiny striper. After a while my light rod with corn got a run, after a 15 minute fight on 6lb line it came to the net. It weighed in at 13lbs 1oz, not bad for the first fish of the day. Shortly after that I got hooked up on bread, this time it was on a heavier rod with 10lb line, after a 10 minute fight it came to the net, this one weighed in at 17lbs 3oz, we were thinking of leaving to go to the next spot, but decided to keep catching for a while longer. Another 15 minutes went by and I hooked up on bread and after a few minutes it was in the net, this one was 10lbs 1oz and had a strange colored tail, it was light colored with gold spots on it. Some guy moved up next to us and was asking for the fish we caught and we had to explain to him our C&R policy. After the carp slowed down I fished worm on 1 rod and caught 7 bluegills and 3 small stripers. I got two more runs over the next hour, one was a bullhead catfish and the other was a small chanel. At about 2:45pm we decided it was time to move on to the next spot witch was about 6 miles away. This spot was called Swenson Park, it is a small park next to a golf course with ponds running through the park, I have heard the ponds are fed by the delta. This spot was also found on fishsniffer, where a guy told me there are lots of small commons and "goldfish", I had a hunch they were crucians. We got to the spot just afer 3:00pm, I chummed some bread and corn and threw out a rod with con and one for bluegills. I got two green sunfish and a small bluegill. After about an hour I got a hit on corn, I missed it and by that time had a float rod out and a rod out for freelining. I got a few more hits, then at about 4:30pm I hooked up on freelined bread. After a quick fight it was a 6lb 4oz common. After getting a few more hits, I got hooked up on float fished corn at 5:00pm and it turned out to be a 1 1/2lb crucian, my first. After that we packed up and headed back home knowing that we had a successful day. We got 2 entries- swenson park and Weber Point and I got some nice carp and my first crucian. Overall it was a great day.
